@ALAN Maya Skinning Problems

I’ve continued working on getting the skinning of the bear up to date, however encountered a few problems on the way which I can’t seem to figure out.
Problem 1:
All vertices have been grouped in relation to the joint placements; I then began animating various parts of the model in this case the front left scapula joint (clavicle), nothing has been changed or altered as I rotate the vertex point moves at the back of the model which is also on the left side connected to the ilium joint (pelvis). Why does this occur and what’s the solution?

Problem 2:
The leg has been animated to move back and forward, I’m trying to add influence to one of the vertices in order for it to move inwards improving the legs shape, however it seems to be connected to a different vertex point? Why does this occur and what’s the solution?
Problem 3:
Again the hip has been animated to move back and forward, I have selected 3 vertices all with the same influence connected to the hip joint yet only the centre vertex point moves with the hip the other 2 do not? Why does this occur and what’s the solution?

Hi Raj - not the comment you want, but duplicate this post on the group blog - are you an author on it? If not email me, and I'll get an invite sent out to you.

Cheers Phil... problem solved.

Thanks for that Alan, animating shouldn’t be a problem too I’ve discovered a solution to get my graph editor working :)

Hey Raj - how's it going? Let me know.

Hey Phil,

Things are okay, I took a small break over Christmas but I’m back and planning on working long days, the project still has a lot of production to go, 1. Characters are almost complete just need to finish up on the controls for them and then get Alan’s approval for animating ready for any last adjustments ( I’ll upload are few sample poses as soon as I can) 2. Tracking the shot and building the scenes. 3. Post production - compositing the animation. The ‘art of’ has arrived also ahead of schedule.

Hey Ray - that's great about the 'art of' - that's something you can strike from the list. Remember not to panic - you're probably feeling very swamped right now, but just take a moment to focus too. You've worked really hard and really efficiently during your minor project - you're more than capable of getting this over the finish line. You're making impressive work and you're learning loads, so stay frosty and keep it together!

Happy New Year to you too!
Things are gradually getting done, character are sorted, there in the process of animation going to track shots tomorrow and look to rendering Sunday which leaves the week to combine my scene and finish the editing.

Okay Raj - sounds like you're as cool as a cucumber! Are you keeping Alan in the loop? I know you're pushed, but maybe put an update together to stop your tutors from biting their fingernails? :D

Are you enjoying yourself, Raj - I hope so, even though I'm sure you're stressed and sleep-deprived! Does the Art Of look nice and tasty?

I feel okay, just got to keep pushing on really keep my head down and fully engaged, I haven’t spoke to Alan since my problems with my models, apart from that the issues have been minor so manageable, alright will do I’m sure the enjoyment will come later. Haha.. Yeah loving the ‘Art Of’ going to get the CD ready on the back page also.
